This is a picture of me
on the High Peak Trail
just before Sparklow.
The opportunity of
getting out and about
on the bike seems to
be getting more and
more seldom now as
I seem to be forever
typing away on this

and this is me again whilst taking a 'handy' breather on the C2C cycle route.

about this site

This is a sister site for The C2C Guide which covers the C2C cycle route, as time goes on I intend to build a couple more sites similar to these two to complement other cycle routes in the country.

The Pennine Cycleway Guide is intended to be a resource centre for cyclists wishing to cycle the Pennine Cycleway . As this is a reasonably new route and not very well known yet the site will mainly be my ramblings and ideas but as the route grows more popular then hopefully I will get contributions from other cyclists to try to balance the site out. As always feel free to get in touch and offer your two-penneth worth of ideas, suggestions and anything else you have Pennine Cycleway related.

The Pennine Cycleway Guide has been vetted (and aided in its content) by Sustrans. Because of the mainly static nature of the route, a lot of the information contained within The Pennine Cycleway Guide will not require updating very often. This might, at first glance, make the site appear untouched but I do update, add, amend or totally rip out sections of the site on a regular basis. Certain pages will be kept as up to date as possible and updated as and when required whilst other pages will not require any changes for months on end. I will of course try to keep you all in touch with route updates and alterations as much as I can - unfortunately I cannot ride the route every month so I am dependent on Sustrans and other sources to inform me of the changes, I will try to liaise with Sustrans as much as possible to ensure the site is kept as up-to date as possible but if you have any information which is not on the site then drop me a line and let me know.

Many thanks are due to the following for their invaluable assistance and advice whilst building this site:
Louise - my (still!) ever so patient partner for not nagging me at the amount of time spent on the PC whilst building this site and also for the ferrying around when needed.
Paul Brooking
- for the excellent trip journals on this site and his company on the PCW Trailblazing ride
Martin Bright
- Martin probably won't remember this but at the launch of the Pennine Cycleway north in July 2002 he was the only one who was encouraging when I mentioned building a site for the PCW north. Martin has also proved a boon with advice, tips and always answered my e-mails! Martin is also one of the people instumental in getting the Pennine Cycleway up and running.
David Gray - partly for his bemusement whilst he signed my guestbook (!) and also for the PCW advice and not telling me to get lost whilst I pestered him! David has also helped me out in the past with my C2C website.
Shirley Acreman
- marketing director of Sustrans for co-ordinating her team (thanks Nic, Paul and Lyndsey) in offering me help and guidance as well as photos, maps and route advice etc. (even if you haven't offered me a job Shirley!)
John Cave and Oliver Dixon - for the use of their photos on the site
John Grimshaw - again for the use of Sustrans photos on the site
Ted Liddle
- another voice in encouraging me to go ahead with this site, Ted also did a lot of work in the early stages of the Pennine Cycleway
Anthony 'The Webmaster' Lowney
for keeping out of this project! Thanks Anf!
All accommodation providers for advertising on the site and helping to make the Pennine Cycleway Guide financially viable.
Anyone else who has submitted photos, articles for use on the site either now or in the future.

The technical bit about the site is that it is designed to be viewed using Internet Explorer and at a resolution of 800*600 but I have tried to make it viewable in other browsers, let me know if you have any problems viewing or accessing the Pennine Cycleway Guide and I will try to fix it.
